A global provider of technical services is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Medical to join its Electrical Safety team based in California. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build a diversified career in international regulatory compliance and product safety testing.
You will work alongside a team of medical electrical safety specialists, partnering directly with medical device manufacturers worldwide to evaluate products against established safety standards.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering, and brings strong communication skills, adaptability, and a proactive, high-energy approach to their work. This role suits someone who enjoys variety and can balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced technical environment.

Role Overview
The Electrical Engineer – Medical performs electrical testing and compliance evaluations on a wide range of medical devices and electrical products in accordance with U.S., Canadian, and international safety standards. Responsibilities include hands-on testing, documentation, report writing, and direct interaction with clients. Under the mentorship of senior engineering staff, this role may also include on-site evaluations to determine a product’s compliance with relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities
Interpret national and international product safety standards to determine applicability for each project.
Review product schematics, construction details, and manufacturing instructions.
Validate project scope, review samples, and conduct preliminary design assessments.
Perform detailed construction reviews of medical devices against safety and compliance criteria.
Develop, execute, and follow structured test plans.
Set up and operate standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, dielectric testers, surge generators, environmental chambers, and other specialized tools.
Conduct safety testing including, but not limited to: electrical ratings, leakage current, dielectric strength, temperature evaluation, stability, mechanical hazards, flammability, and related assessments.
Build expertise in IEC 60601 and associated medical electrical safety standards.
Compile test results and product information into structured report formats; submit for final review and approval.
Communicate project progress, technical findings, and next steps to clients and internal stakeholders.
Provide ongoing technical support to clients and team members as needed.
Perform additional duties as required depending on business needs.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical or Biomedical preferred).
Experience with U.S., Canadian, or international product safety standards is advantageous.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Capable of identifying issues, analyzing data, and drawing sound engineering conclusions.
Able to make independent technical decisions within defined parameters.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent customer service and client-facing skills.
Self-motivated and able to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Project management experience is a plus.
Ability to travel up to 15% as required.
Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
