What you’ll do
ISP Tuning & Calibration Engineer
Role Overview
We are looking for an ISP Tuning & Calibration Engineer with strong hands-on experience across multiple ISP tuning/calibration tools, ISP platforms, and camera ecosystems. The role combines camera image quality, ISP tuning, calibration, and tuning-tool GUI/UX.
The ideal candidate should have worked with 2–3+ different ISP tuning/calibration toolchains and be comfortable learning and adapting to new ISP environments.
Key Responsibilities
Perform ISP tuning, camera calibration, characterization, and image-quality optimization across different camera platforms.
Work hands-on with multiple ISP tuning/calibration tools, understanding differences in tool architecture, GUI, parameter structures, workflows, and visualization.
Tune and optimize key ISP modules including 3A (AE/AWB/AF), LSC, black-level correction, HDR, noise reduction, sharpening, color correction, gamma, tone mapping, and image enhancement.
Analyze RAW/YUV/RGB images, histograms, color charts, noise, sharpness, exposure, and color accuracy to diagnose IQ issues.
Perform camera characterization and validation using test charts, controlled lighting, and image-quality measurement tools.
Compare tuning results across different ISP platforms/tools and adapt tuning methodologies between ecosystems.
Evaluate tuning-tool GUI/UX, identify workflow bottlenecks, and recommend improvements to usability, visualization, and engineer productivity.
Collaborate with Camera, ISP, Firmware, Software, Hardware, and UX teams to resolve image-quality and tooling issues.
Develop scripts/automation for tuning, calibration, image analysis, and regression testing.
Must-Have Qualifications
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Imaging Science, or related field.
5+ years of hands-on experience in ISP tuning, camera calibration, or image-quality engineering.
Proven experience with multiple ISP tuning/calibration tools — ideally 2–3+ different toolchains.
Experience across multiple ISP/SoC platforms or vendors such as Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung, NVIDIA, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of the camera pipeline: Sensor → RAW → ISP → YUV/RGB → Camera Framework/Application
Strong knowledge of ISP tuning parameters and their impact on end-user image quality.
Experience with image-analysis tools such as Imatest, MATLAB, Python/OpenCV, or equivalent.
Ability to understand complex engineering GUIs and tuning workflows and identify usability improvements
Who You Are
Multi-Tool Experience — Critical
Candidates should demonstrate hands-on experience with different ISP tuning/calibration environments, not just a single proprietary tool.
Relevant Experience Includes
Working with tuning tools from different ISP/SoC vendors.
Migrating/adapting camera tuning across different ISP platforms.
Working with different workflows for 3A, color, LSC, NR, HDR, sharpening, and calibration.
Understanding differences in parameters, dependencies, visualization, GUI, and tuning methodology across tools.
Evaluating and improving the usability and workflow of ISP tuning tools.
Preferred Skills
ISP/Imaging: ISP Tuning | Camera Calibration | Image Quality | RAW Processing | 3A | HDR | LSC | NR | Color Science | Tone Mapping
Tools/Software: ISP Tuning Tools | Calibration Tools | Imatest | MATLAB | Python | OpenCV | C/C++
Platform/UX: Qualcomm / MediaTek / Samsung / NVIDIA | Android Camera Framework/HAL | Tuning GUI | Visualization | Tool Usability | Workflow Automation
Ideal Candidate
An engineer who can move confidently between different ISP tuning tools and camera platforms, understand how each tool represents and exposes ISP parameters, and translate that expertise into both better image quality and a better tuning-tool user experience.
