We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical discipline in our Alexandria, VA office (5 staff). This role serves as the technical and team lead for electrical engineering, responsible for guiding design quality, supporting project delivery, and mentoring staff within a collaborative, multi-discipline environment. Electrical work includes power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Discipline Leadership and Team Development
Lead the electrical discipline for the Alexandria office, providing day-to-day direction and technical guidance
Mentor and develop staff, supporting growth in both technical and project delivery capabilities
Support hiring, onboarding, and performance feedback in coordination with office leadership
Help manage staffing levels and workload, coordinating with other offices as needed
Project Delivery and Technical Leadership
Contribute to and support proposals, design budgets, and project schedules
Support project teams across all phases, from concept design through construction administration
Collaborate with PMs, architects, and clients to deliver coordinated, high-quality designs
Assist with staffing assignments to align team capabilities with project needs
Participate in and lead design reviews to ensure technical quality and alignment with client requirements
Design Quality and Standards
Maintain overall quality and consistency of electrical design and documentation for the office
Support QA/QC processes in coordination with firm standards
Contribute to development and maintenance of discipline standards and best practices
Partner with project and construction teams to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
Strong background in electrical design (power, lighting, fire alarm) within the A/E consulting environment
Experience leading or mentoring engineers in a project-based setting
Ability to balance hands-on design with team leadership responsibilities
Strong communication skills and ability to work across disciplines and with clients
