About Role:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced ROM Team Lead to drive the architecture, development, validation, and delivery of Boot ROM solutions for next-generation i.MX, RT, and MCX product families. This role combines deep embedded firmware expertise with technical leadership, requiring ownership of the complete ROM lifecycle from requirements definition through silicon bring-up and production release.
The successful candidate will lead a team of firmware engineers, collaborate across global engineering organizations, and ensure the secure, reliable, and timely delivery of Boot ROM firmware for complex SoC platforms. This position demands strong technical judgment, project leadership, risk management, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders across architecture, design, verification, emulation, security, software, and product teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & ROM Development
• Own the end-to-end development of Boot ROM firmware for our client's embedded SoC and MCU platforms, including requirements analysis, architecture, design, implementation, validation, and release.
• Lead the development of ROM code within pre-silicon development environments, including emulation, RTL simulation, FPGA, and virtual platforms.
• Design and implement secure, high-reliability boot flows supporting diverse boot devices and system configurations.
• Drive firmware quality through comprehensive validation strategies, code coverage analysis, static analysis, and defect prevention methodologies.
• Ensure ROM firmware meets functional, performance, security, safety, and manufacturability requirements prior to tape-out.
• Support post-silicon bring-up, debug, and root-cause analysis of boot-related issues.
Program & Risk Management
• Lead ROM projects from concept through fabrication release, ensuring delivery against aggressive product schedules.
• Identify technical dependencies, project risks, resource constraints, and platform readiness issues early in the development cycle.
• Develop mitigation plans and coordinate cross-functional execution to minimize schedule impact.
• Establish and monitor milestones, deliverables, quality metrics, and release criteria throughout the project lifecycle.
• Drive continuous improvement of ROM development methodologies, processes, and engineering best practices.
Team Leadership
• Build, lead, and grow a high-performing firmware engineering team at our client's Noida site.
• Provide technical mentoring, career development, and performance guidance to engineers.
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, engineering excellence, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Promote knowledge sharing and technical competency development across the organization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Serve as the primary ROM technical lead across globally distributed development teams working on common product programs.
• Act as a ROM process champion, ensuring consistent execution, quality standards, and compliance across all project phases.
• Partner closely with SoC Architecture, Design, Verification, Validation, Emulation, and Silicon Enablement teams to define and resolve ROM dependencies.
• Collaborate with Security Architecture and Secure Technology teams to implement robust device protection mechanisms, secure boot, lifecycle management, and anti-tamper solutions.
• Work with Product Management, Applications Engineering, Software, and Customer-Facing teams to translate customer requirements into scalable boot and security solutions.
• Influence system-level decisions by providing ROM architecture expertise during planning, roadmap, and design reviews.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience leading embedded firmware development projects for complex SoC or MCU platforms.
• Demonstrated success managing technical teams and delivering software products within aggressive development schedules.
Technical Expertise:
• Expert-level proficiency in Embedded C programming and low-level firmware development.
• Strong experience with ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-A architectures.
• Working knowledge of ARM assembly language and low-level startup code development.
• Proficiency with ARM toolchains and commercial embedded toolchains such as IAR.
• Strong expertise in software configuration management and development tools including Git, Jira, Make, CI/CD pipelines, and automated build systems.
• Hands-on experience with embedded debugging and trace tools such as Lauterbach, J-Link, and equivalent solutions.
• Experience developing secure, hardened bootloaders and ROM-based firmware solutions targeting ROM, OTP, or immutable memory technologies.
• Deep understanding of embedded storage and boot technologies, including:
~ UFS
~ SPI NOR Flash
~ NAND Flash
~ eMMC
~ SD/SDIO
~ USB Boot
• Experience developing and debugging firmware in pre-silicon environments including:
~ Emulators (ZeBu, Palladium, Veloce)

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with RISC-V processors, architectures, and toolchains.
• Proficiency in Rust programming for embedded and security-focused applications.
• Working knowledge of RTL development and hardware description languages including Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
• Experience with software quality and static analysis tools such as Coverity, Cppcheck, GCov, Lint, and related technologies.
• Familiarity with our client's i.MX SoC architecture and subsystem integration.
• Knowledge of our client's MCU SDK and embedded software frameworks.
• Experience porting and optimizing firmware on our client's development platforms and reference boards.
• Understanding of system power management, clock management, and low-level peripheral initialization.
• Knowledge of functional safety standards, including IEC 61508 and ISO 26262.
