General Summary
As a Principal CPU Power Modeling Engineer, you will define and drive the strategy, methodology, and execution of CPU power modeling across multiple product segments, including Mobile, Compute, and XR/VR.
You will lead the development of benchmark-driven and workload-based power modeling frameworks, working closely with product and software teams to model real-world use cases. Your work will directly influence architecture, design trade-offs, and product-level power optimization.
Required Skill/experience
Deep expertise in CPU power modeling and analysis
Strong understanding of CPU microarchitecture and performance-power trade-offs
Proven experience in benchmark analysis and workload characterization
Proficiency in Python, TCL, or Perl
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience developing scalable workload-driven power modeling methodologies
Familiarity with industry-standard CPU benchmarks
Strong collaboration experience with software and product teams
Experience in pre-silicon and post-silicon power correlation
Exposure to multi-segment product development (Mobile, Compute, XR/VR)
Key Responsibilities
Define and lead CPU power modeling strategy across business units
Develop benchmark-driven and workload-based power models
Collaborate with software and product teams to define workloads
Analyze power across real-world scenarios and provide optimization insights
Generate power-performance trade-off curves
Drive collaboration with architecture and performance teams
Lead pre- to post-silicon power correlation efforts
Mentor engineers and improve modeling infrastructure
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.

Pay Range And Other Compensation & Benefits
$211,900.00 - $317,900.00
The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
