About the Role
The role involves creating PCB layouts for power converter assemblies in Altium Designer, ensuring adherence to Design for Manufacturability (DFM) guidelines and established CAD library standards.
The salary range for this role will be $80,000 to $90,000 per year. Candidates must be local and there is no sponsorship for this role.
Responsibilities
Create PCB layouts for power converter assemblies in Altium Designer.
Follow Design for Manufacturability (DFM) guidelines and established CAD library standards for component footprints and attributes.
Perform comprehensive design verification using automated CAD validation and rule-checking tools.
Utilize Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems to manage PCB designs through all development stages, including layout, review, fabrication, assembly, and stencil release.
Collaborate effectively with Electrical Design Engineers to update layouts based on schematic revisions, engineer markups, product platform derivatives, and new product introductions.
Partner with Mechanical Engineers to accurately incorporate board outlines, mechanical features, terminals, mounting requirements, and keep-out zones, while obtaining required documentation for PCB release.
Work closely with Operations and NPI Engineers to implement manufacturability requirements, including spacing, solder mask design, assembly tolerances, and process-driven design margins.
Schedule and lead PCB Layout Design Reviews, both in-person and virtual, with cross-functional stakeholders including Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Compliance, Manufacturing, and Operations teams prior to design release.
Apply disciplined project and workload management practices to support multiple concurrent designs and ensure timely PCB releases.
Collaborate with CAD Library Administrators to maintain library integrity, troubleshoot design database issues, and ensure adherence to component library standards.
Generate PCB stencil manufacturing files using approved CAD tools and document releases through PLM systems.
Qualifications
3+ years of PCB CAD design experience.
Required Skills
Proficiency with Altium Designer; experience with BluePrint software is a plus.
Familiarity with Valor, ODB++, or similar manufacturing data formats is preferred.
Basic understanding of PCB technologies, including SMT, through-hole, buried vias, blind vias, and related manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of power electronics and power conversion applications.
Understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with additional CAD tools and software.
Advanced knowledge of power electronics.
