Job Description:
Seeking a creative and experienced Power Electronics Engineer with expertise in space hardware development and task leadership. This role supports the development of next-generation space power hardware and involves power electronics work from concept through delivery, including design, testing, documentation, and technical reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate as part of a subsystem electronics development team and support reviews of electronics, electronics test equipment, and test plans.
Develop and execute task plans and budgets for power and sensor space flight electronics through development, build, test, and delivery to higher levels of integration.
Develop system designs and requirements for space power systems and power electronics.
Design and develop power and sensor electronics for space missions and other applications.
Prepare and maintain documentation related to conceptual development, reliability, structural and thermal analyses, design drawings, and build, assembly, and test activities.
Report technical progress, schedule status, and budget status to line, project, and institutional management.
Contribute to advanced electronics technology development and support future missions and mission proposal efforts through expertise in current space electronics practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline with typically a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a related discipline with typically a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or a PhD in a related discipline.
Deep understanding and experience in analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronics, controls, or power systems design, including power control systems.
Proven experience in designing, fabricating, assembling, and testing analog or power electronics hardware.
Experience with test software and hardware, particularly LabVIEW and Python-based test equipment, including selection, assembly, and use of electronic bench test equipment.
Knowledge of circuit design and board design software used in electronics development, including Altium and LTspice.
Familiarity with industry and academic practices and standards related to the development, testing, and integration of electronic assemblies for space applications.
Experience in military, aerospace, or space hardware development.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong ability to multitask and a demonstrated track record of meeting schedules and milestones.
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in changing and competing environments.
Preferred:
Experience with computer-aided engineering tools that support the electronics design process.
Experience applying principles, theories, concepts, and techniques in electronic circuit design, simulation, and test, particularly in analog electronics for space environments.
Experience taking a design from concept through design, build, test, and delivery for a space mission.
Military, aerospace, or space hardware development experience.
