Description
Skyworks Irvine Design Center is seeking a Power Amplifier (PA) Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Winter/Spring 2027 Co-Op (January–June).
In this co-op opportunity at Skyworks, you will learn and participate in the development of advanced, state-of-the-art radio frequency (RF) front-end modules, working with seasoned engineering professionals and collaborating with subject matter experts across Skyworks. Not only will you gain insight into how products are developed in the industry, but you will also build advanced technical knowledge and skills, gain valuable hands-on experience, and explore future full-time career opportunities at Skyworks.

Responsibilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Working with experienced engineers to design and develop RF Integrated Circuits (RFICs) for multi-chip modules
Designing RF power amplifiers
Running simulations using industry-standard design tools such as Keysight ADS and Ansys HFSS
Participating in and presenting during design reviews
Performing laboratory testing using standard RF test equipment
Troubleshooting and resolving design and technical issues
Collaborating with engineers and technicians across multiple disciplines
Required Experience And Skills
Currently enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Commitment to working on-site in Irvine for the duration of the January–June 2027 co-op term
Strong desire to learn, grow, and make an impact
Strong career interest in power amplifier design and RF/microwave engineering
Familiarity with amplifier operating modes, including Class A, AB, C, E, and F, as well as load modulation techniques such as Doherty power amplifier design
Familiarity with Digital Predistortion (DPD), memory effects, and their impact on power amplifier design
Willingness to share knowledge and collaborate with others
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Desired Experience And Skills
Experience with Keysight ADS
Hands-on laboratory experience using a network analyzer and other RF test instruments
Understanding of Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) technology
The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
