Company Description

FQE Power is a global industrial commissioning services provider specializing in highly engineered solutions for power generation and industrial facilities. With a 30+ year legacy, patented SigmaCommissioning™ technology, and experience supporting projects around the world, FQE Power helps clients accelerate commissioning, reduce risk to critical equipment, improve schedule certainty, and optimize resource utilization.

As part of the FourQuest group, FQE Power delivers integrated commissioning, pre-commissioning, engineering, and field execution support for gas-fired, steam, combined cycle, CHP, nuclear, and industrial power applications. Our work combines technical expertise, process innovation, field-proven methods, and specialized equipment to help clients move from construction readiness to reliable operation.

Role Description

FQE Power is seeking a full-time Pipe Engineer to support the engineering and design of temporary piping systems for industrial commissioning projects.

The Pipe Engineer will work closely with process engineering, pipe design, project management, and field execution teams to develop temporary high-energy piping systems used in commissioning applications. This includes 3D modeling, pipe routing, stress analysis, support concepts, vibration analysis, and technical support for field implementation.

This role requires strong engineering fundamentals, practical piping knowledge, and the ability to work across both office-based design activities and project site execution environments. The Pipe Engineer will support global projects and may be required to travel internationally as needed.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing 3D piping models using CADWorx Plant Design software.
Creating pipe routing concepts based on Process Flow Diagrams provided by FQE Power process engineers.
Integrating pipe routing with client 3D models using Navisworks.
Optimizing piping layouts for process requirements, flexibility, equipment interfaces, supportability, and constructibility.
Applying piping codes and standards, with a strong emphasis on ASME B31.1.
Developing pipe stress analysis models using Caesar II or AutoPIPE, depending on project and client requirements.
Evaluating temporary piping systems based on applicable thermal, pressure, weight, and load cases.
Developing 3D pipe support concepts for further detailing by the pipe design team.
Supporting 3D modeling of secondary and low-energy piping systems as required.
Performing vibration analysis on high-energy piping systems using FQE Power internal engineering processes.
Providing technical support during field layout, construction, commissioning, and operations activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience.
Experience working as a piping engineer, pipe stress analyst, or mechanical/piping design engineer.
Strong understanding of piping design, piping construction, and fabrication processes.
Experience designing high-energy piping systems.
Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards, especially ASME B31.1.
Experience with pipe stress analysis software such as Caesar II and/or AutoPIPE.
Strong CAD skills, including AutoCAD and CADWorx.
Experience using Navisworks for client model interface and coordination.
Experience with 3D modeling environments such as SmartPlant, CADWorx, or similar platforms.
Experience producing 3D CAD-based models for piping, equipment, and pipe support systems.
Familiarity with MathCAD for engineering calculations, including vibration analysis and wall thickness calculations.
Field experience in power generation, commissioning, or related industrial environments is preferred.
Fluency in English is required.
Fluency in a second language is desirable, particularly Spanish, French, Korean, or Arabic.

Personal Attributes

High level of personal and professional integrity.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with coworkers, clients, management, and field craft personnel.
Ability to work effectively across cultures and in international project environments.
Self-disciplined and able to work independently without close supervision.
Strong attention to quality, productivity, and technical accuracy.
Professional flexibility, including willingness to support field layouts, construction support, commissioning activities, and hands-on field tasks when required.
Calm, professional, and level-headed under pressure.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness and desire to travel internationally.
