Role Description This full-time Mechanical Engineer role is an on-site position based in San Francisco, CA. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and evaluating mechanical components and systems, preparing detailed 3D models and drawings, and performing engineering calculations to ensure performance, reliability, and safety. Daily work includes collaborating with cross-functional teams, supporting R&D activities, testing prototypes, and documenting design decisions and results. The role also involves coordinating with vendors and manufacturing partners, contributing to project planning, tracking progress against milestones, and supporting continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with experience applying core principles to real-world design and analysis challenges.
Proficiency in Machine Design, including component selection, tolerance analysis, and designing for manufacturability and reliability.
Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor, or similar) for 3D modeling and technical drawings.
Background in Research and Development (R&D), including prototyping, testing, data analysis, and iteration based on test results.
Project Management skills to plan tasks, manage timelines, coordinate with stakeholders, and deliver engineering work on schedule and within scope.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and standards, with familiarity in relevant industry codes and best practices.
Effective communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, cross-functional team environment.
Experience with simulation tools (FEA, CFD) and knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, 3D printing) is a plus.
