We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and help drive the future of packaging equipment for the pharmaceutical industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development: Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings for automated pharmaceutical filling systems using CAD software (SolidWorks). Work with vendors to select appropriate components and solve manufacturing issues within budget. Work with electrical engineers to select and size appropriate electromechanical components (servos, pneumatics, safety systems)
Prototyping & Testing: Assist in the development and testing of mechanical components to ensure functionality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, project managers, and assembly teams, to develop efficient and effective designs. Consult with and guide assembly technicians during assembly phase. Consult with project managers to report status, raise issues, and clarify technical issues.
Documentation: Prepare engineering documentation, bills of materials, manufacturing drawings, recommended parts lists, and technical reports.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute to internal design reviews to identify opportunities for cost reduction, quality improvement, and process efficiency.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs meet pharmaceutical industry standards (e.g., cGMP, FDA, ISO).
Problem-Solving: Assist in troubleshooting design-related issues during assembly and testing phases.
Customer Communication: Work with customers to ensure their needs are met within budget while staying consistent with internal standards. Support and/or lead design reviews with customers. Support client facing factory acceptance testing to ensure equipment meets expected performance levels. Participate in project status meetings with customers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Familiarity with CAD software e.g., SolidWorks and AutoCAD (SolidWorks preferred)
Basic understanding of mechanical systems, material properties, and manufacturing processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and mechanical drawing best practices.
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft office products
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Previous internship, job, or project experience in automation or machine design is a plus but not required.
