About the Company
Halo X Labs is building the HALO Chip, the world's first self-powered, subdermal GPS microchip for pets. We're early-stage, currently raising a $1.5M pre-seed round, and looking for a founding Hardware/Electrical Engineer to validate and mature our existing device design.
About the Role
As our founding Hardware/Electrical Engineer, you'll take our existing HALO Chip design from prototype to production-ready, working hands-on with real-world testing and directly with our manufacturing partner to make sure the device performs reliably at scale. This is a build-from-zero, founding-team role with no existing playbook, you'll be the technical owner of everything on the physical hardware side, with real equity and real decision-making stake in the company from day one.
Responsibilities
Validate the current HALO Chip design (energy harvester, microbattery, GPS/LoRa module, implantable housing) through real-world testing
Work directly with our manufacturing partner, CICOR, on design-for-manufacturability and biocompatibility requirements
Troubleshoot and resolve issues surfaced during the prototype-to-production transition
Own the technical relationship with CICOR's engineering team, translating between what our product needs and what can be manufactured at scale
Support next-generation hardware development post-launch
Qualifications
Real, hands-on experience designing and validating hardware for constrained, low-power devices
Required Skills
Comfortable working with a contract manufacturer on DFM and production-readiness
Startup-stage mindset, able to work independently and solve problems with limited existing infrastructure
