Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with 10+ years of hands-on electrical and hardware design experience. The role focuses on mixed-signal analog and digital design, high-speed PCB development, power architecture, processor and FPGA-based systems, signal integrity, EMI/EMC, board-level validation, and hardware troubleshooting.
The successful candidate will take ownership of hardware designs throughout the product development lifecycle and collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical, and other engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop mixed-signal analog and digital hardware.
Architect and develop high-speed PCB designs involving DDR3/DDR4, PCIe, QSPI, and controlled-impedance routing.
Develop power-tree architectures using DC-DC buck and boost regulators, LDOs, and power sequencing.
Design hardware systems incorporating microprocessors, microcontrollers, ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V, and FPGAs.
Analyze and address signal integrity, crosstalk, noise, EMI, and EMC issues.
Develop and troubleshoot communication interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, RS485, CAN, USB, and Ethernet.
Perform schematic development and PCB design using enterprise-level EDA tools.
Conduct board bring-up, hardware validation, troubleshooting, and component-level root-cause analysis.
Use laboratory instrumentation such as digital storage oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, vector network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
Perform component derating and support thermal-management activities.
Participate in architectural trade-off analysis and component selection.
Lead technical design reviews and provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers.
Coordinate engineering dependencies across firmware, software, mechanical, and other cross-functional teams.
Support project planning, scheduling, technical execution, and related engineering activities.
Support applicable product compliance and verification activities.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline; advanced engineering degree is also acceptable.
10+ years of relevant Electrical or Hardware Design experience.
Demonstrated experience with mixed-signal analog and digital circuit design.
Demonstrated high-speed PCB design experience, including DDR3/DDR4, PCIe, and QSPI.
Experience designing power architectures involving DC-DC converters, buck/boost regulators, LDOs, and power sequencing.
Experience with FPGA- and processor-based hardware systems, including ARM-based architectures and/or RISC-V.
Demonstrated experience addressing signal integrity and EMI/EMC considerations.
Hands-on experience with hardware communication interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, RS485, CAN, USB, and Ethernet.
Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other hardware validation equipment; experience with VNAs and spectrum analyzers is required for this position.
Experience with schematic capture and PCB design.
Proficiency with Xpedition or a comparable enterprise PCB/EDA platform.
Experience participating in technical design reviews and providing technical leadership or mentorship.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware issues at the component or board level.
Work Requirements:
This position requires regular onsite work in Dublin, California.
Candidates must be able to work onsite as required by the position.
