Role Overview
We are looking for a Design Engineer with a strong foundry background to design high-quality foundry tooling in Creo. In this role, you will help improve casting quality and shorten tooling lead times using No-Bake and Cold Box molding processes.
Key Responsibilities
Tooling Design: Create complex patterns and core boxes using Creo software following established design standards.
Analysis & Simulation: Perform flow simulation analysis (using SolidCast) to optimize designs and resolve casting scrap defects.
Project Execution: Handle RFQs for tooling, re-gating, and direct third-party suppliers/pattern makers throughout the tool build process.
Cross-Functional Teamwork: Collaborate daily with Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, Programmers, Pattern Makers, and Pattern Technicians.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on foundry engineering and tooling design experience. (Note: Internships are not accepted as direct experience).
CAD & Simulation: Strong 3D modeling skills in Creo and experience with casting simulation software (SolidCast preferred).
Foundry Expertise: Deep knowledge of No-Bake and Cold Box molding processes, parting lines, offsets, clearances, and layout.
Technical Knowledge: Ability to read machining prints and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Soft Skills: Excellent communication across all organizational levels and proven ability to direct suppliers on build projects.
Preferred
CNC milling knowledge.
