Computer Aided Design Manager

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a CAD Manager in Phoenix, AZ.

The CAD Manager will oversee all CAD operations with a strong focus on AutoCAD Plant 3D. This role is responsible for managing drafting standards, optimizing workflows, and supporting engineering teams in the development of accurate 2D and 3D design packages. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and leadership experience to drive consistency and efficiency across all design efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and mentor a team of CAD designers and drafters
Lead all AutoCAD Plant 3D design efforts, including piping models, equipment layouts, and isometric generation
Establish and enforce CAD standards, templates, and workflows specific to Plant 3D projects
Oversee the creation and maintenance of P&IDs, 3D models, and construction drawings
Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure design accuracy and alignment with project requirements
Manage project setup, spec creation, and database configuration within Plant 3D
Ensure proper file management, version control, and data integrity
Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to improve design efficiency
Qualifications:
5+ years of CAD/design experience with strong expertise in AutoCAD Plant 3D
2+ years in a leadership or management role preferred
Experience with piping design, industrial/process systems, or EPC environments
Strong understanding of P&IDs, isometrics, and 3D modeling workflows
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and leadership skills
