Company Description Light Links, Inc. is redefining wireless communication with Wi-OW, a proprietary optical technology that can be seamlessly integrated into Wi-Fi networks. Wi-OW delivers license-free, gigabit-speed, ultra-low-latency wireless connectivity using optical beams, enabling line-of-sight as well as non-line-of-sight wireless architectures. This innovation significantly enhances wireless connectivity performance for ultra-low latency, bandwidth-intensive and security-sensitive applications. The company focuses on pushing the limits of conventional wireless systems by combining optical wireless/free-space optics and LiFi technologies. Team members collaborate on advanced hardware and firmware solutions that power next-generation wireless experiences.
Role Description These are full-time positions, remote but preferably on-site engineering roles based in Campbell/CA, with openings for electrical, mechanical, and software/firmware engineers focused on Optical Wireless/Free Space Optics and LiFi system development. Day-to-day responsibilities may include designing and prototyping optical wireless hardware, developing and testing embedded firmware and software for Wi-OW systems, and integrating optical solutions with existing Wi-Fi infrastructure. Engineers will perform simulations, laboratory experiments, and system-level testing to validate performance, reliability, and safety. The role involves close collaboration across disciplines to optimize system architecture, troubleshoot issues, and support deployment and maintenance of pilot and production systems. Team members are expected to document designs, contribute to continuous improvement, and participate in technical reviews and cross-functional discussions.
Qualifications
Mechanical domain: Candidates should possess skills in Mechanical Engineering and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for designing, modeling, and analyzing optical and mechanical assemblies.
Reliability and operations domain: Candidates should possess skills in Maintenance and Inspection to ensure system reliability, safety, and performance throughout the product lifecycle.
Application and integration domain: Candidates should possess skills in Robotics or similar complex system environments, supporting ruggedized, high-reliability deployments and integration with existing infrastructure.
Electrical/optical engineering (beneficial): Experience with high-speed circuits, optoelectronic components, laser drivers, photodiodes, and mixed-signal design.
Software/firmware engineering (beneficial): Proficiency in embedded programming (e.g., C/C++), real-time operating systems, low-level drivers, and networking protocols (e.g., Wi-Fi, TCP/IP).
Systems and testing (beneficial): Background in systems engineering, lab testing, data analysis, and use of instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and optical measurement tools.
Education and general skills: Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering field; strong problem-solving abilities; ability to work collaboratively on-site in a multidisciplinary team; clear written and verbal communication skills.
