Job Title: Validation Engineer

Job Description

This Validation Engineer role focuses on designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test activities to verify and validate component and system functionality and reliability. You will collaborate closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customer Technical Services to qualify new products and product changes, resolve technical risks, and support continuous improvement. The position offers the opportunity to lead sensor qualification and failure analysis, drive process and product enhancements, and contribute to advanced anti-counterfeiting and security solutions across the full product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Support Design Engineering in planning and executing Design Verification and Validation activities to qualify new products and product changes and to mitigate technical risks.
Develop and execute test plans to prove out component and system functionality, performance, and reliability.
Lead the qualification, testing, and failure analysis of sensor components, subassemblies, and complete sensor systems.
Support Manufacturing by designing and performing test activities to qualify improvements to production materials and methods.
Conduct hands-on testing and data analysis to troubleshoot process and manufacturing issues related to non-conforming production materials.
Propose detailed corrective and preventive action plans to improve processes, components, and products, with the goal of increasing manufacturing efficiency, quality, yield, cost-effectiveness, and product performance.
Support Customer Technical Services by planning and participating in Verification and Validation tests in the field.
Prepare clear and comprehensive technical documentation, including test and analysis plans, test result reports, product change proposals, and change verification test reports.
Evaluate product and project risks using formal risk assessment tools such as FMEA and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
Establish and maintain a project roadmap within your area of responsibility, track and report progress, and escalate issues promptly when needed.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization and influence outcomes without formal authority.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills by identifying issues early, gathering facts, proposing solutions, seeking input, and implementing and documenting resolutions.
Continuously identify and implement preventative measures and process improvements based on lessons learned from problems and failures.
Communicate project needs, challenges, decisions, and proposed solutions clearly and at the appropriate technical level for different audiences.
Take ownership and accountability for assigned work, maintaining a high standard of quality even under schedule pressure and balancing urgent issues with long-term goals.

Essential Skills

At least 5 years of experience in testing and troubleshooting, preferably at the component and system level.
Strong background in testing and data analysis, including the ability to design and interpret validation and verification tests.
Component-level electronic knowledge, with the ability to understand and work with electronic components and sensor systems.
Experience with risk assessment tools such as FMEA for evaluating product and project risks.
Proven ability to perform hands-on testing, failure analysis, and root cause investigations for electronic components and sensors.
Strong documentation skills, including the ability to create test plans, test reports, and product change documentation.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style and technical depth to different audiences.
Demonstrated problem-solving capability, including early issue recognition, fact gathering, solution development, and implementation.
Organizational skills to establish and maintain project roadmaps, track progress, and report status clearly.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across functions and levels and to influence outcomes without formal authority.
Demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability for work quality and project success.
Eligibility and ability to obtain a secret clearance, as required for the role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience working directly with suppliers on component qualification, testing, or issue resolution.
Experience supporting full product lifecycle activities, from concept and design through validation, production, and field support.
Familiarity with sensors used in quality control tools, customer-facing measurement tools, and high-speed industrial in-line sensing environments.
Exposure to anti-counterfeiting, product security, or document security applications is a plus.
Experience leading or contributing to cross-functional teams using formal project management tools and methodologies.
Ability to clearly explain the reasoning behind technical opinions and decisions, ask and answer questions tactfully, and actively listen to others’ input.
Track record of maintaining high quality standards under schedule pressure and striving to “do it right the first time.”

Work Environment

This role is based onsite five days per week at a facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. You will work closely with design, manufacturing, and customer technical services teams in a hands-on engineering and laboratory environment that focuses on developing advanced anti-counterfeiting and security solutions. The work involves interaction with electronic components, sensor systems, and test equipment used for quality control, customer-facing measurement tools, and high-speed industrial in-line sensing applications. The environment supports collaboration, cross-functional problem solving, and continuous improvement across the full product lifecycle.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Albuquerque, NM.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
