Transportation Project Engineer
Location: Buffalo, New York, United States
Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000
A well-established civil engineering consultancy with a strong presence across New York State is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer to join their Buffalo, NY office. The firm have a proven track record delivering transportation and highway infrastructure projects for state and local government clients, and this is a genuine opportunity to take on project leadership responsibility within a collaborative and technically strong team.
This is a varied role - you will operate as a Project Manager on smaller assignments and Project Engineer on larger schemes, giving you real ownership of projects and the chance to develop your client facing and commercial skills alongside your technical work.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and contribute to the design and delivery of transportation and highway engineering projects
Perform technical tasks including research, reports, design, specifications, and plan preparation
Support business development activity including attending client meetings
Assist with proposal preparation and coordination to secure new work
Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team across projects of varying scale and complexity
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
8–10+ years of progressive transportation design experience
PE licence required
Proven experience on NYSDOT, NYSTA, and locally administered federal aid projects
Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD — InRoads experience a plus
Working knowledge of NYSDOT specifications and design standards
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Compensation & Benefits
