We are looking for a highly skilled Tool Design Engineer who is passionate about precision engineering, tooling innovation, and manufacturing excellence. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in sheet metal tool design, coupled with the ability to develop robotic fixtures and automation solutions that enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Design and develop press tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and robotic fixtures for sheet metal manufacturing applications.
✔ Create and validate 2D & 3D designs using industry-standard CAD software.
✔ Develop innovative tooling and fixture concepts for new product development (NPD) and production optimization.
✔ Design and engineer robotic fixtures, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and automation-related tooling solutions for welding, assembly, and material handling applications.
✔ Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Automation teams to improve manufacturing performance and reduce downtime.
✔ Ensure tooling solutions meet targets related to quality, productivity, cost, safety, and manufacturability.
✔ Analyze and resolve tooling-related challenges through effective root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
✔ Maintain engineering documentation, design revisions, BOMs, and technical records in compliance with company standards.
✔ Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on tooling efficiency, process capability, and automation integration.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Technical Expertise
Strong experience in Tool Design for Sheet Metal Components
Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Hands-on experience in preparing and reviewing 2D & 3D engineering drawings
Strong understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes, press tools, progressive dies, and fixture design
Experience in designing robotic fixtures, welding fixtures, assembly fixtures, and automation tooling
Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturing feasibility
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
Professional Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Excellent project coordination and cross-functional collaboration skills
Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities
Continuous improvement and innovation mindset
Qualifications:
🎓 Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
Preferred Candidate Profile
✅ Minimum 5 years of experience in Tool Design.
✅ Mandatory experience in the Sheet Metal Manufacturing Industry.
✅ Proven expertise in Press Tools, Progressive Dies, Jigs & Fixtures.
✅ Experience in designing robotic fixtures, automation tooling, and welding fixtures will be a strong advantage.
✅ Exposure to manufacturing automation projects and robotic integration will be preferred.
