The Test Engineering Manager is a vital member of the team, with a primary focus on Engineering Validation, Safety & Lab Operations. Key Responsibilities
Include But Are Not Limited To
Lead the physical execution and scheduling of Design Verification Testing (DVT), Validation (VAL), and formal certification testing (e.g., UL 2200, UL 9540).
Act as a 50/50 "Player-Coach," dedicating half of your time to hands-on test setup, teardown, execution, and troubleshooting alongside lab technicians.
Partner directly with R&D and Design teams to translate product requirements into formal, documented lab test procedures.
Directly manage, mentor, and schedule a team of dedicated lab technicians.
Serve as the primary company representative during customer witness tests.
Identify testing capability gaps, procure specialized lab equipment, and manage external contractors for lab-specific installations.
Maintain a deep, hands-on understanding of specialized electrical lab equipment, calibration schedules, and technical limitations.
Maintain clear documentation of activities and results.
Partner with the general Facility Manager for building-level support and cross-team lab maintenance.
Education and Experience
BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering – or other relevant engineering degree.
Proven experience in product design, testing, and system integration.
Minimum 2 years managing
Minimum 5 years in high power test lab environment
technical team members.
Specific Skills / Abilities
Knowledge of CANbus, Modbus, equipment programming, and commissioning.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and cross-functional communication abilities.
Polished communication and presentation capabilities.
Ultimate authority and strict enforcement of lab-specific safety programs, including NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
Data acquisition programming and utilization.
Working Conditions
Combination of standard office and lab environment.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
Hybrid: On site most days – remote as able.
Expected Travel: Up to 25% as needed.
