Test Engineer (Mechanical - Automotive/Off-Highway)
Pooler, GA (Onsite - WFO)
The Position: The Test Engineer provides technical input and evaluation of product and product component tests. The Test Engineer performs specific testing of selected finished products and product components. Test types are simulation/fatigue, static, thermal and corrosion.
Responsibilities:
• Performs or provides technical guidance for the testing of GDT products or product components.
• Evaluates test results of products or product components and documents results.
• Maintains professional competency and awareness. Remains abreast of technical and methodological advances and evaluates for applications. Participates in mutually beneficial professional and industry organizations.
• Recommends testing procedural changes.
• Designs new test techniques as needed for new products, components, vendors or circumstances.
• Assists and participates in the development, maintenance and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs.
• Guides and directs other engineers and/or technicians on specific assignments.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field required.
• Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in a test engineering environment desired.
• Skills:
o Knowledge of manufacturing processes with metal fabrication and composites.
o Knowledge of adhesives and fasteners.
o Knowledge of dynamic structural data acquisition with strain gages, thermocouples, LVDTs, load cells, and other sensors and transducers.
o Fatigue Testing experience with hydraulic or servo-electric equipment.
o Road simulator drive file creation and/or durability experience.
o Metallurgical Sciences experience.
o Field testing experience on industrial machinery and structural products.
o Paint and Coating experience-both application of coatings and QC testing.
o Corrosion testing experience with Cyclical, QUV, and salt-fog machines
o QC test experience, especially to ASTM, ANSI, SAE, ISO and related standards.
o Urethane Foam Experience.
o Labview, nCode, RPC, and other programming applications for test equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter, capable of working independently as well as building strong cross-functional relationships.
• Knows and uses the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of test engineering.
• Travel: Up to 10%
