We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Test Engineer II to join our growing engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on testing, problem solving, automation, and working in a fast-paced startup environment.
Position Summary
The Test Engineer II is responsible for executing, developing, and improving test procedures for energy storage systems and related electrical equipment. This role supports product validation, troubleshooting, automation, and environmental testing activities while collaborating closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure product quality and reliability.
Responsibilities
Learn and develop expertise in the operation, architecture, and design of the Yotta Block system and related products
Execute manual bench testing using battery cyclers, power supplies, DC electronic loads, inverters, and data acquisition systems
Develop and execute automated test procedures using Python, LabVIEW, or similar scripting/programming tools
Analyze test data, troubleshoot failures, and document findings clearly and accurately
Support root-cause investigations and debugging of electrical and system-level issues
Propose and implement new test methods to improve validation coverage and efficiency
Build, maintain, and improve test fixtures, harnesses, and laboratory equipment
Perform environmental and thermal testing using temperature chambers and related equipment
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to validate product performance and reliability
Maintain accurate test records, reports, and documentation
Participate in laboratory organization, safety practices, 5S activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
Support additional engineering and operational activities as needed
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field
3+ years of experience in electrical, electronics, battery, or power systems testing
Hands-on experience with common electrical test equipment and instrumentation
Experience documenting test procedures, results, and technical reports
Experience with Python, LabVIEW, or other automation/programming tools
Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with battery systems, renewable energy systems, or power electronics
Familiarity with environmental or thermal testing
Experience developing automated test frameworks
Startup or product development experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30–50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to kneel, squat, climb, and work at varying heights occasionally
Ability to work outdoors and in varied weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
