What To Expect
Tesla Energy is looking for highly motivated and experienced test engineers to help bring the next generation of energy and charging products to the market. You will join an efficient and skilled factory firmware team responsible for the integration of firmware into our manufacturing lines, leading the testing of hardware and firmware for high volume products. You will collaborate closely with hardware, embedded software, and firmware teams to design test specifications for new products, write software for flashing and testing of PCBAs and full product assemblies, and integrate this software into test stations for production lines.
Multiple Locations Possible: Palo Alto, CA; Buffalo, NY; Austin, TX; Houston, TX
What You'll Do
Design and develop embedded software to support testing and flashing of low voltage compute platforms
Design and develop test station software to automate testing and flashing of PCBAs
Read electrical schematics, define low voltage testing and flashing specifications to support high volume manufacturing
Collaborate with test fixture vendors, integrate software for testing of PCBAs and support deployment of test fixtures at contract manufacturers
Review test fixture design for reliability, manufacturability, and scale
Hands-on debugging of product test failures through analysis of network or CAN traces, Linux debug logs, using oscilloscopes, etc.
Automate and optimize cycle time of test stations
What You'll Bring
Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
3-5 years’ experience writing and shipping software in Go, Python, Rust, or C
Experience writing and integrating software into manufacturing test stations
Experience with PCBA level testing and fixtures such as ICT, flying probe, bed of nails, etc.
Can read and interpret low voltage electrical schematics
Experience writing and understanding technical specifications
Experience writing software or testing embedded Linux or RTOS systems
Ability to understand common communication peripherals such as CAN, RS-485, Ethernet, I2C, PCIe, etc.

Expected Compensation
$120,000 - $252,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
