Summary
The Test Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing validation tests for hardware and software products. This role will develop and implement innovative techniques to detect hardware and software defects and provide descriptive documentation as a primary contributor on the product development team. This role will also assist in the deployment of testing and programming automation to manufacturing to maximize production efficiencies and reduce costs. This role will work closely with a team of skilled engineers while collaborating cross-functionally with the Manufacturing and Quality teams to execute new product development projects, as well as to provide sustaining engineering support for the current product line.
Responsibilities
Design and execute test protocols using effective control and variable separation, ensuring tests are structured and conclusive
Develop comprehensive test plans and detailed test procedures based on product requirements and specifications
Perform functional, usability, compatibility, performance, and regression tests on products in parallel with the engineering development process
Conduct testing of mobile applications across various iOS and Android devices and OS versions
Follow hardware/software engineer direction to gather characterization data, understand edge cases and vulnerabilities, and ensure product designs meet requirements and specifications
Develop automated testing capabilities and reduce test process complexity
Support the manufacturing team by producing detailed test specifications and procedures, and assisting in the design and development of specialized test fixtures for production use
Maintain documentation and reports for test procedures and results tracking
Search out and actively learn new technologies and tools that can assist in more efficient test processes
Adhere to project schedules; deliver prompt communication of anticipated delays or obstacles
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail in conveying technical information and documenting findings
Working knowledge of circuit design fundamentals that facilitates developing proper test setup/direction
Ability to read and understand programming code, electrical schematic drawings, bills of materials, and component data sheets
Quality-conscious mindset with a willingness and ambition to follow through on each task
Demonstrated proactiveness and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to adapt to changing design priorities and stay productive with multiple assigned projects
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of commercial audio/visual and network equipment
Experience diagnosing, documenting, and tracking hardware/software/firmware bugs using defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA)
Experience automating test equipment functions as part of a production functional test system
Experience working within regulatory entity constraints
Working knowledge of Python or other relevant programming languages for test automation and scripting
Experience with iOS and Android devices, including device configuration and troubleshooting
Salary: $80000 - $90000 per year
