Position Summary
The Test Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of automated and manual test systems for electro-mechanical products and assemblies. This role plays a critical part in product validation, manufacturing quality, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with National Instruments (NI) hardware and software platforms, including LabVIEW, and a strong background in electro-mechanical systems testing within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automated test systems using LabVIEW and National Instruments hardware platforms.
Create functional, electrical, mechanical, and environmental test procedures for electro-mechanical products and assemblies.
Develop test fixtures, data acquisition systems, and custom validation equipment to support manufacturing and engineering operations.
Program and troubleshoot LabVIEW applications for automated production and engineering test systems.
Analyze test data, identify trends, and perform root cause analysis on product or process failures.
Support new product introduction (NPI) activities including prototype testing, validation, and qualification.
Collaborate with Design Engineering to improve product reliability, manufacturability, and testability.
Interface with Manufacturing, Quality, and Production teams to resolve testing and product performance issues.
Develop and maintain test documentation including validation protocols, work instructions, test reports, and calibration records.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield improvement, cycle time reduction, and defect prevention.
Assist with integration and troubleshooting of instrumentation including DAQ systems, PLCs, sensors, power supplies, and communication interfaces.
Ensure compliance with customer requirements, internal standards, ISO procedures, and regulatory specifications.
Participate in FMEA, DVP&R, corrective actions, and engineering change processes.
Provide technical training and support to technicians and manufacturing personnel.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related technical field.
3+ years of experience in a Test Engineering role within an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
Strong hands-on experience with LabVIEW programming and National Instruments hardware/software platforms.
Experience developing automated test equipment (ATE) and data acquisition systems.
Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and functional testing methodologies.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and CAD models.
Experience troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems and manufacturing test equipment.
Experience with instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, and DAQ systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
