Semiconductor Test Hardware Design Engineer

$140,000 – $200,000 + Bonus + Stock Options + Health Benefits + 401k + PTO

Fremont, California / Austin, Texas

Are you a Test Design Engineer with experience designing and developing electronic test hardware from the ground up, looking for an autonomous role with little red tape where you will create advanced semiconductor test systems for cutting-edge applications at a fast-growing and highly innovative company?

On offer is the opportunity to join a rapidly expanding semiconductor technology company, where you’ll play a key role in architecting and developing advanced wafer-level test hardware while driving improvements in production capability, yield, and performance.

This company are a growing force in the semiconductor space, focused on solving complex IC testing challenges through cutting-edge technology and innovation. With a global footprint and strong technical foundations, they are scaling operations to meet increasing demand and are investing heavily in expanding their hardware design and test engineering capabilities. You’ll join a hands-on, highly collaborative team in a truly dynamic environment.

On offer is a high-impact role where you’ll take ownership of the full design lifecycle for complex semiconductor test hardware, from schematic capture and PCB layout through validation, debug, and production support. You’ll work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve product quality, signal integrity, reliability, and throughput. The company offers a fast-paced, engineering-driven culture with strong technical progression opportunities for individuals who enjoy solving challenging, real-world hardware design problems.

This role would suit a Test Design Engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment and is looking to take ownership of complex semiconductor test hardware design within a growing and ambitious company.

The Role:

*Lead the design and development of semiconductor test hardware including PCB design, circuit design, and FPGA integration
*Design high-speed and mixed-signal test circuits for advanced wafer-level semiconductor applications
*Develop test programs, vectors, and automated test solutions across multiple platforms
*Debug complex multi-layer PCBs, identifying issues such as signal integrity, impedance mismatches, and component failures
*Perform detailed electrical measurements using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, VNAs, TDR, LCR meters)
*Drive root-cause analysis, failure investigations, and corrective actions in production environments
*Support technicians with hardware bring-up, rework, testing, and debug processes while setting engineering best practices
*Contribute to yield improvement, hardware reliability, failure analysis, and continuous process improvements

The Candidate:

*Experience designing and developing electronic test hardware or test circuits from concept through validation
*Strong background in electrical engineering with experience in analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design
*Hands-on experience with PCB schematic capture, layout, troubleshooting, and complex electronic systems
*Knowledge of high-speed or RF concepts (signal integrity, crosstalk, impedance control)
*Experience with LabVIEW or similar test software
*Experience working on semiconductor, wafer-level, or high-speed electronic test systems preferred
