About the job
Video games are the richest simulations of physical reality ever built. Origin Lab partners with the publishers and developers behind them to capture gameplay at the source, enrich it with engine telemetry, depth, and metadata, and deliver it to the frontier AI labs training the next generation of world models. This is the data layer for AI that finally learns how the physical world actually works.
We are backed by Lightspeed Ventures, SV Angel and other Tier 1 investors and moving fast. Every person here shapes the product directly.
We are hiring a technical, detail-oriented Technical QA and Power Player to own testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and benchmark capture for our internal data tools. You are our Customer Zero. You stress-test our tools, solve the technical hurdles of game launchers and mods, write the blueprints, and produce the gold-standard captures that set the bar for the rest of the organization.
You will report to our Director of Product Management, Capture Technology and Operations. This is a full-time role located in our office in Los Angeles. We offer competitive salary, equity, and full benefits.
*There are hard requirements listed below, if you don't meet these qualifications you will not be considered. Please don't apply.
What you'll work on
Internal tool dogfooding. Primary tester for our custom recorder app, task creation system, upload pipeline, and review tools.
Mod and custom content testing. Install, configure, and validate game mods for stability and compatibility across patches and engine versions.
Launcher and technical troubleshooting. Solve issues across Steam, Epic, custom launchers, private and custom servers, and the anti-cheat compatibility layer.
Process engineering and documentation. Translate capture needs into clear SOPs, visual references, and briefs for non-technical and remote teams.
Benchmark video capture. Use our systems hands-on to produce the gold-standard video captures that define what good looks like.
What we're looking for
Absolute requirements*:
Deep PC gaming and modding knowledge. Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting PC mods. Strong grasp of file structures, dependencies, and mod loaders. (required*)
QA and troubleshooting experience. Proven ability to test software, reproduce bugs, and write clear repro steps for engineering. (required*)
Launcher expertise. Familiarity with Steam, Epic, custom launchers, and how anti-cheat engines (EAC, BattlEye, VAC) interact with game files. (required*)
Technical writing. Detailed, easy-to-follow docs and briefs for non-technical and remote teams. (required*)
Capture tools. Hands-on with OBS, custom recording software, and capture cards. (required*)
Additionally:
Familiar with AI agentic systems. Used Claude, Cursor, Codex, or similar to ship work or automate tasks
Basic scripting (Python, PowerShell, bash) to automate launcher setup, repros, or test scripts.
Game development, QA, data collection, or ML data pipeline experience.
Streaming experience on Twitch, YouTube, Kick, or similar.
