Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on Technical Manager to lead embedded hardware and firmware engineering for industrial electronics products, including servo drives, VFDs, motion control and automation systems.
This is an engineering-driven leadership role requiring strong technical ownership across embedded hardware, firmware, architecture, debugging, communication protocols and product development.
The ideal candidate should be a hands-on Technical Lead, Architect, or Engineering Manager with deep experience in industrial electronics and embedded systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Architecture Leadership
Own end-to-end embedded hardware and firmware architecture.
Define technology roadmaps for MCU/SoC, power management, RTOS and development toolchains.
Make architecture decisions balancing performance, cost, reliability and cybersecurity.
Act as the technical escalation point for complex hardware-firmware issues.
Drive technical reviews and engineering best practices.
Hands-on Engineering
Participate in hardware schematic and PCB layout reviews.
Participate in firmware design and code reviews.
Support prototype bring-up and debugging.
Troubleshoot using oscilloscopes, JTAG/SWD and logic analyzers.
Drive root-cause analysis for field failures, EMC and reliability issues.
Embedded Hardware Leadership
Guide MCU/SoC-based hardware designs.
Review analog and digital circuit designs.
Oversee power management and power supply design.
Ensure EMC/EMI-compliant designs.
Review component selection, derating and reliability considerations.
Oversee verification and environmental testing.
Embedded Firmware Leadership
Lead development of embedded C firmware.
Guide RTOS and bare-metal development.
Lead low-level drivers, bootloader and secure boot development.
Oversee firmware update mechanisms and communication stacks.
Lead implementation of industrial communication protocols including:
EtherCAT
CAN
PROFINET
IO-Link
Ensure appropriate cybersecurity practices are incorporated into product development.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Controls, Systems, Manufacturing, Quality, Safety and Cybersecurity teams.
Ensure alignment of requirements, interfaces and verification activities.
Support certifications, audits and customer technical support.
Contribute to product development and technical problem-solving.
Team & Execution
Mentor and guide hardware and firmware engineers.
Build strong engineering and technical review practices.
Drive documentation and engineering discipline.
Enforce change management and quality processes.
Ensure high-quality and timely technical delivery.
Required Technical Skills
12–18 years of experience in embedded hardware and firmware development.
Prior experience as a Technical Lead, Embedded Architect, Technical Manager or hands-on Engineering Manager.
Strong MCU/SoC hardware design experience.
Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics.
Power management and power supply design.
EMC/EMI fundamentals.
PCB design and layout review.
Strong Embedded C experience.
RTOS and/or bare-metal firmware development.
Hands-on debugging using:
JTAG/SWD
Oscilloscopes
Logic analyzers
Strong experience with industrial communication protocols:
EtherCAT
CAN
