About the Role
We are hiring a Technical Lead, Platform Engineering for a fully funded fintech startup building infrastructure that connects traditional U.S. securities markets with digital assets and commodities markets.
This person will be the first in-house engineering hire and technical owner of a cloud-native platform built across multiple microservices. The role is ideal for someone who wants high ownership, enjoys hands-on engineering, and can also lead offshore engineering teams through delivery.
This is a 40/60 role: around 40% hands-on engineering and 60% technical leadership, architecture, code review, delivery management, and communication with leadership. The role has a clear growth path toward Head of Engineering as the company scales.
What You’ll Do
Technical Leadership
Lead offshore engineers across Java/Spring Boot, Python, Node.js, and Angular
Set sprint priorities, review pull requests, and own delivery quality
Own architecture decisions across database design, APIs, service design, and platform security
Act as the technical point of contact for integrations with transfer agents, custodians, and market data providers
Maintain Azure infrastructure, including Key Vault, API Management, and staging-to-production migration
Translate technical decisions into business-oriented updates for leadership
Lead UAT, define test scenarios, validate acceptance criteria, and support go-live readiness
Hands-On Engineering
Design and build Camunda BPMN workflows
Lead external API integrations, including service layers, real-time callbacks, and instruction payloads
Architect multi-custodian routing across digital and commodity asset classes
Build email-based instruction ingestion services
Contribute to automation of key platform tasks
What We’re Looking For
Must Have
5–7 years of software engineering experience
At least 2 years in a senior engineer or technical lead capacity
Backend-leaning full-stack experience
Strong experience in at least two of: Java Spring Boot, Python, Node.js
Enough Angular experience to review and direct frontend work
Capital markets, securities services, fintech, or financial infrastructure experience
Experience with transfer agents, custodians, securities settlement, or financial API integrations
Experience leading offshore or remote engineering teams
Workflow orchestration experience such as Camunda, Temporal, Apache Airflow, or similar
Azure cloud infrastructure experience, including compute, secrets management, API gateways, and managed databases
Nice to Have
Experience with transfer agent or custodian APIs
Familiarity with securities settlement instruction formats
Exposure to digital asset infrastructure, custodian APIs, on-chain transaction matching, or blockchain reconciliation
Startup experience
LoopBack 4 or similar API framework experience
