Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond. Together, we advance your career.
The Role
The Product Development Group is seeking a System Test Engineering Manager to lead validation and manufacturing test innovation for our next‑generation datacenter GPU platforms. In this role, you will partner closely with silicon, hardware, software, and manufacturing teams to bring cutting‑edge AI, ML, and HPC solutions to life at scale.
You will play a critical role in shaping test strategies, driving automation, and enabling high‑quality, high‑volume production through our manufacturing partners. This is a high‑impact opportunity to influence both product quality and production efficiency while working on industry‑leading accelerated computing technologies.
The Person
You are a hands‑on engineering leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment. You combine strong technical depth with sharp problem‑solving skills and a passion for improving manufacturing outcomes.
You’re collaborative, detail‑oriented, and comfortable owning complex challenges from concept through production. With a strong interest in GPU hardware and datacenter technologies, you bring both curiosity and accountability, while mentoring others and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Define and execute manufacturing test strategies for new datacenter GPU and system products
Lead development of automated test solutions, diagnostics, and validation infrastructure
Partner with design teams early to influence DFT (Design for Test) and product testability
Drive debug and resolution of complex hardware and software issues during build and ramp
Deliver scalable test methodologies across board and system‑level products
Collaborate with manufacturing partners to improve yield, quality, and production efficiency
Develop and maintain test content and automation frameworks (Python/Linux environment)
Establish qualification, release, and maintenance processes for production test solutions
Evaluate and introduce new test technologies to optimize cost and throughput
Lead technical problem solving and implement process improvements across programs
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across cross‑functional teams
Preferred Experience
Experience with system or board‑level manufacturing test in datacenter environments
Background in post‑silicon validation and hardware/software debug
Proficiency in Python and scripting (e.g., Bash, Perl, or similar)
Strong understanding of automated test equipment, diagnostics, and validation flows
Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems and hardware validation processes
Knowledge of technologies such as PCIe, BMC, IPMI, and thermal systems
Experience with Agile development practices and revision control systems (e.g., Git)
Exposure to C/C++, Java, or similar programming languages
Academic Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
LOCATION: Austin, Texas
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
