Description
SAIC is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to support the Space Reactor-1 (SR-1) Freedom Nuclear Power Module (NPM) Verification and Validation (V&V) efforts. SR-1 will demonstrate nuclear electric propulsion and provide a path to higher powered and longer duration Mars missions.
Supporting the SR-1 NPM Lead Systems Engineer, the selected candidate will be the technical lead for NPM V&V Planning and Execution.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Ensuring the system is verified and validated using the defined mission success criteria
Defining verification methods for all requirements
Defining and maintaining the Verification Matrix to ensure industry partner’s V&V plans align with system-level V&V
Ensuring the NPM V&V Plan is in-line with the SR-1 Vehicle V&V Plan
Coordinating subsystem and system level test planning for requirement closure criteria
Validation of mission requirements and concept of operations
Collaborating with the Integration & Test and External Interfaces technical leads
Being the interface to the with the mission level V&V planning effort
Location
Work will be performed onsite at NASA GRC in Cleveland, Ohio, 5-days a week.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Experience with verification and validation planning and execution
Demonstrated experience in systems engineering on complex hardware
Demonstrated experience collaborating across cross-functional teams
Excellent communication skills
Highly motivated and able to work independently
Team player dedicated to the mission
Desired Skills
Experience with spaceflight hardware projects
Experience working with NASA, Department of Energy, or defense/naval systems engineering processes and procedures
INCOSE CSEP
Education/Experience
Completed at least a bachelor of science degree in a STEM-related major from an accredited program with the following education and experience
Bachelors and nine (9) years or more of relevant experience;
Masters and seven (7) years or more of relevant experience;
PhD or JD and four (4) years or more of relevant experience.
Target salary range $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
