About The Opportunity

Join world-class experts in finding answers to our customers’ toughest questions as our Systems Engineer II for the Rochester, New York site. We’re building out the human capital that will propel solutions across multiple categories. Drawing from disciplines including systems, optics, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering we’re assembling the capacity to provide even deeper customer collaboration on highly precise challenges across industries.

As a Systems Engineer II, the successful candidate will help drive the development of multiple technology-based solutions to engineering and commercial problems.

Utilize multidisciplinary engineering experience and expertise to design, build, and test new solutions to meet customer requirements and specifications for imaging, spectral sensing, and color measurement applications.
Work with commercial and applications teams to develop prototypes of new opportunities that align customer needs to the strengths and benefits of the business.
Produce mechanical and electrical design of instruments and fixtures, optomechanical design of devices, basic software or firmware development, and troubleshooting of systems with the mix of these tasks determined by the applicant’s skillset.
Develop hands-on expertise in hardware, spectroscopy, imaging, software, and/or electrical engineering.
Other duties as assigned.

About The Candidate

Our ideal candidate should possess:

Education

B.S. (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar engineering degree.

Experience

2+ years of experience developing technical solutions in complex hardware and software development; more experienced candidates welcome to apply.

Desired Skills

Hands-on experience developing integrated hardware/software systems from concept to production.
Ability to analyze data in an efficient manner and derive actionable development direction from results. (experience in MATLAB, or equivalent a plus).
Experience in 3D modeling (using SolidWorks or similar)
Experience in electrical schematic capture and layout (using Altium or similar)
Excellent skills in planning, communications, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, innovation, and the ability to motivate inspire, and influence cross-group/functional teams with a high degree of independence and success .
An entrepreneurial spirit and mindset, bringing a natural curiosity for what “can be” and the willingness to challenge boundaries.
Ability to deal with ambiguity, navigate uncertain situations, and drive for clarity.
Ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed organization, influencing culture and decisions.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000 per year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
