Business Unit: EPS Mobility
Role: System Tester – MCU (Motor Control Unit)
The System Tester for Motor Control Unit (MCU) is responsible for end-to-end verification and validation of motor control systems across bench, HIL/SIL, inverter test rigs, dyno, and vehicle-level environments. The role ensures the MCU meets requirements for functionality, performance, robustness, diagnostics, reliability, and compliance under real-world operating conditions and corner cases.
Key Responsibilities
Create and maintain system test strategy, test plans, and test matrices aligned to product requirements.
Derive test scenarios from system requirements, use cases, and safety/quality goals.
Define test coverage across operating modes (normal, derating, limp-home, fault modes) and environmental conditions.
Develop and execute tests for motor control MCU functions, such as:
Start/stop sequences, torque/speed control response, mode transitions
Regeneration and braking coordination (where applicable)
Thermal derating, voltage/current limitations, and protection behaviors
Build and automate tests on HIL rigs (e.g., dSPACE/NI/Vector), and bench setups including inverter + motor + load.
Develop automated regression suites for repeated validation:
Test scripting (Python/CAPL/MATLAB/Simulink Test or tool-specific frameworks)
CI-friendly execution and reporting (where applicable)
Maintain test artifacts: scripts, configuration files, datasets, and baselines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical/Electronics, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, or related.
3–8+ years experience in system testing/validation of embedded ECUs (automotive/industrial).
Strong understanding of Motor control systems and inverter basics (PMSM/BLDC/IM fundamentals helpful)
ECU testing lifecycle, test design techniques, and defect management
Hands-on experience with at least one:
HIL platforms (dSPACE, NI, Vector, etc.)
Bench testing with inverter + motor setups and measurement equipment
Comfortable with automotive networks & tools:
CAN/LIN/Ethernet, UDS diagnostics, CANoe/CANalyzer (or equivalent)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to manage multiple integration tasks across vehicle programs.
Detail-oriented with a focus on safety, performance, and reliability.
Passion for electrification and automotive innovation.
