Piper Companies is seeking a System Test Engineer to support end-to-end validation of complex hardware-software systems within a regulated technology-driven industry. This System Test Engineer role is ideal for an engineer who focuses on system-level testing, integration, and validation rather than application-level or purely software testing.
Responsibilities of the System Test Engineer:
Develop, execute, and maintain system-level test plans, test procedures, and test cases based on system requirements and design documentation.
Perform integration, regression, functional, performance, and end-to-end system testing across hardware, firmware, and software components.
Validate system behavior in real-world and simulated environments, identifying defects related to interfaces, workflows, and system interactions.
Collaborate closely with systems engineering, hardware, firmware, and software teams to resolve defects and improve overall system quality.
Document test results, anomalies, and defects with clear root cause analysis and reproducible steps.
Support verification and validation (V&V) activities to ensure systems meet technical, operational, and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement of system test processes, tools, and test environments.
Qualifications of the System Test Engineer:
5+ years of experience in system testing, integration testing, or validation engineering (not focused solely on software testing).
Strong understanding of system-level requirements, interfaces, and end-to-end workflows.
Experience testing complex systems that include hardware, firmware, networking, or embedded components.
Hands-on experience with test documentation, defect tracking tools, and requirements management systems.
Ability to troubleshoot issues across multiple layers of a system and communicate findings clearly to technical stakeholders.
Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments is a plus.
Compensation for the System Test Engineer includes:
Salary range: $115,000 – $130,000 depending on experience
Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO
