System Design Engineer
GEE Group is partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization to identify a System Design Engineer who can play a key role in shaping how manufacturing systems are built across multiple facilities.
This is a front-end engineering position focused on concept development, system layout, and equipment strategy. The team is looking for someone who can make sound engineering decisions in real-world applications, not someone limited to maintenance or purely theoretical work.
You will work alongside internal teams and CAD resources, but your responsibility is to define how systems come together and perform in production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead early-stage engineering efforts for new systems and plant improvements
Translate process requirements into scalable system designs and layouts
Perform equipment sizing and selection across fluid, thermal, and material handling systems
Develop and review P&IDs and process flow diagrams
Partner with vendors and internal teams on specifications and procurement
Support capital projects from concept through execution
Help establish and refine engineering standards across multiple sites
Qualifications
Experience in system or process design within manufacturing environments
Industry experience in food and beverage, consumer goods, pharma, or similar
Hands-on experience with:
P&IDs and process flow diagrams
Equipment sizing and layout development
Pumps, valves, tanks, heat exchangers, or related process equipment
Packaging systems, utilities, or material handling
Demonstrated ownership of design decisions and project contributions
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related discipline
Preferred Background
Experience supporting or leading capital projects or facility expansions
Strong ability to connect engineering theory to practical application
Exposure to multi-site or corporate engineering environments
Consistent career progression and solid tenure
Not a Fit For
Candidates focused strictly on operations or maintenance
CAD-only designers without system ownership
Research or academic-heavy profiles without applied experience
Lean or continuous improvement roles without design responsibility
Additional Details
Hybrid work structure based in Dallas
Relocation assistance available
Competitive compensation and long-term growth opportunity tied to ongoing investment initiatives
