About the Opportunity
Oscar Faye is partnering with a ~$35B alternative asset manager to hire a Software Engineer on their Corporate Engineering team. The firm operates across three distinct businesses, asset management, Bitcoin infrastructure, and reinsurance, and has made an explicit, top-down commitment to becoming an AI-first organization. The engineering team is 100+ of 300+ total employees. The cloud foundation is already in place, early primitives are already shipping, and the AI mandate runs through every engineering org. This is not exploration. This is execution.

The Role
You will own the internal platforms, workflows, and data systems that run the firm's investment, client, and corporate functions. You work directly alongside finance, legal, compliance, and client strategy teams to translate their complex real-world processes into production software. No PMs handing you specs. No ticket queue to disappear into. You own the problem end-to-end.

What You'll Do
Build and own reporting systems, CRM and client platforms, workflow automation, and shared data infrastructure across all three businesses
Sit directly with finance, legal, compliance, and operations stakeholders — understand their workflows deeply and translate them into durable, production-grade software
Apply LLMs and agentic workflows to operational problems and ship them to production — not sandbox experiments, not prototypes
Own architecture, implementation, deployment, and operational support without handoffs
Partner with a small, autonomous team where your fingerprints are on the platform, not buried in a backlog

What We're Looking For
7+ years of software engineering experience, fullstack or backend-leaning
Track record of owning internal business systems end-to-end — back-office tooling, workflow automation, operational platforms, client reporting, or similar
Experience working directly with non-technical business stakeholders and translating their needs into production software
Financial services or fintech background strongly preferred — lending, payments, capital markets, asset management, or insurance
Production AI or LLM exposure — agents, workflow automation, agentic systems; not required but a strong differentiator
Startup operating mode — you self-organize, move fast, and do not need a roadmap handed to you

What We're Not Looking For
SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineers whose platform work is purely operational
Application-layer LLM engineers building chatbots, RAG apps, or text-to-SQL tools with no systems ownership underneath
Consultants or enterprise architects who describe platform work but do not own the code
Consumer product engineers with no internal tooling or financial services context
Engineers who need heavily scoped tickets or defined requirements to operate

Why This Role Stands Out
Cross-firm surface area — you touch asset management, Bitcoin infrastructure, and reinsurance in a single role, not siloed to one business line
Direct line to a hiring manager who built distributed financial systems at a top quant trading firm and major banks before joining as an IC — technical, hands-on, hires people and gets out of their way
Sub-1% attrition firm-wide — reflects how carefully they hire and how rarely they get it wrong
Compensation structure that rewards loyalty and tenure
