Pre-Bid Support: Preparation of BOQ/BOM and engineering deliverables for tendering such as PSLD, etc.
Protection and Control Engineering: Prepare panel GA drawings, internal layouts and front facia drawings. Develop AC and DC schematics, wiring and termination details, ferruling, terminal block schedules and inter panel wiring for control panels, kiosks and marshalling boxes. Prepare cable schedules, core allocation and interconnection drawings from switchyard to control room. Generate BOM with make, type and rating selection as per approved vendor lists. Develop protection philosophy and scheme designs for lines, transformers, reactors and busbars covering distance, differential, restricted earth fault, overcurrent, breaker failure, auto reclose and synchro check functions. Prepare relay selection, IO mapping and logic diagrams. Design interlocking, annunciation, trip circuit supervision, DC supervision and lockout schemes. Support teleprotection and special protection or runback schemes. Carry out relay setting calculations and coordination studies.
Auxiliary Systems: Prepare AC and DC auxiliary system designs and calculations including DC load lists, battery and charger sizing, ACDB and DCDB schemes and LT panel interfaces.
Validation & Compliance Support: Formulate comprehensive test plans for the validation of protection panels, SAS, and control logic loops. Support clients and EPC partners through Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT). Execute design compliance checks matching global standards (IEC, IEEE, etc) and localized grid codes (CEA, etc.)
· Client, Vendor and Project interfaces:
Specialized OEM Panel Engineering: Lead detailed Control & Relay Panel (CRP) Design, translating client specifications into production-ready physical layouts, terminal blocks, and internal wiring architectures. Develop custom panel schematics and logic interlock matrices mapped directly onto hardware architectures from major manufacturers like GE Vernova, Hitachi Energy, Siemens, etc. Prepare manufacturing ready panel drawings incorporating type test requirements under IEC 61439 and IEC 60255. Support production queries, inspection documentation and as built drawings.
Utilities: Prepare deliverables compliant with owner standards such as POWERGRID, CTUIL, state transmission utilities, Private Utilities and regulatory standards such as CEA,etc. Attend design reviews, resolve technical queries and obtain drawing approvals. Carry out Owner’s engineering by review of vendor drawings and technical documents.
EPC Contractors: Deliver fast track detailed engineering. Review OEM and vendor drawings. Manage interfaces with civil, primary and SAS disciplines. Support tender engineering, technical bid evaluation and BOQ finalisation.
Safety Integration & Validation: Incorporate critical electrical safety features, arc-flash detection systems, fault recorders, and surge/overvoltage protection configurations directly into the panel architectures. Formulate comprehensive test plans for the validation of protection panels, SAS, and control logic loops.
Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate on cable sizing, routing, and scheduling while supporting civil, structural, primary, SAS, Communication, OEM teams on equipment foundation, support structure requirements, auxiliary systems. etc.
Compliance: Ensure all designs meet stringent international (IEC, IEEE) and local regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications:
Education: BTech/MTech in Electrical Engineering. EEE, Instrumentation & Control, or a highly related technical engineering discipline.
Experience: 2-8 years of hands-on experience in Substation Secondary Electrical engineering for projects.
Mindset: A commitment to "Simplicity with Precision" and the "Courageous Innovation" required to solve complex infrastructure challenges.
Technical Skills:
· OEM Configurator Suites: Deep operational command of PCM600 (Hitachi Energy Relion series configurator), DIGSI, Micom Agile, EnerVista (GE Multilin/UR Setup software).
· Protection Coordination Software: Working knowledge of power system analysis software such as ETAP, CAPE, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
· Core Systems Engineering: Deep expertise in creating complex schematic architectures, hardwired interlock matrices, and localized wire routing topologies.
· Design Software proficiency: Hands-on proficiency with secondary electrical layout design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Bentley, Microstation, E3, EBASE, EPLAN Electric P8, etc.)
· Calculations & Sizing: Proven ability to mathematically determine equipment sizing, busbar parameters, cable ratings, insulation coordination, and earthing system grids.
· Technical Compliance: Thorough working knowledge of standard codes and global frameworks (IEC, IEEE, and local grid standardizations).
Desired Skills
· Network & Automation Tools: Practical experience using IED Scopes, third-party SCL configuration utilities, SAS platforms, and network protocol analyzers like Wireshark.
Interface Management: Strong capabilities in managing technical interfaces between primary equipment, structural civil layouts, and secondary automation/protection setups.
