Are you looking to advance your structural engineering career in a fast-paced, hands-on construction environment? Do you take pride in developing solutions that real-world installation challenges in the field?

As a Structural Design Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design structural support systems and anchorage solutions for commercial HVAC, Plumbing, and Piping projects. The Structural Design Engineer will manage multiple structural design projects, applying their technical knowledge to create practical, code-compliant designs that contribute directly to the success of project execution.

What you will do
Design structural support systems, anchorage, seismic bracing, and vibration isolation for mechanical systems, including ductwork, piping, plumbing, and HVAC equipment for commercial and complex projects.
Perform structural calculations for non-structural components in compliance with applicable codes and standards (CBC, CMC, IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, ANSI, AISC, NDS, SMACNA, and ASHRAE).
Develop job-specific structural solutions by reviewing architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings, and revising designs based on field conditions, product availability, or project changes.
Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors to evaluate and select isolation and anchorage components that align with system requirements and performance criteria.
Participate in internal turnover meetings and project-specific design discussions to align on scope, constraints, and field expectations.
Interface with Project Managers, Detailers, Foremen, and Superintendents to gather job-specific input and coordinate timely design revisions.
Conduct jobsite visits on projects with significant field constraints to document conditions and inform the design process; clearly communicate findings to the project team.
Create and compile detailed anchorage and bracing calculation packages, including CAD-generated details, with clear and consistent presentation.
Stamp design packages with a current PE license where required for permit submissions or code compliance.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of company standards for structural design, including calculation templates, CAD blocks, and technical workflows.
Attend manufacturer-led training sessions, industry seminars, and SVM's internal Learning & Development courses to stay current on evolving codes, standards, and best practices in structural design.
Demonstrate a commitment to excellence, integrity, and representing Silicon Valley Mechanical in the highest professional manner.
