About the Company: LightSpun is a rapidly growing SaaS company revolutionizing healthcare administration in the dental, vision, and accident insurance domains. We offer a comprehensive, end-to-end platform for providers and payers, aiming to empower our clients with cutting-edge technology for exceptional service and operational efficiency. Our work involves building AI-first scalable services for healthcare administration tasks such as credentialing, onboarding, and managing brokers, providers, members, and claims.

About the Role: We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to serve as the senior-most individual contributor on one of our core engineering teams in Bengaluru. You will own the technical direction of major platform components end-to-end — from architecture through production operation — while staying hands-on in the code. This is an IC-track leadership role: you set the technical bar for the team, mentor engineers through design and review, and act as the technical counterpart to the team's Engineering Manager. You will be a key driver in our adoption of microservices-based and agentic-AI architectures, working closely with our US-based product and engineering teams. Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India (hybrid)

Responsibilities:

Technical Direction: Own the architecture, design, and end-to-end delivery of major services on our platform. Turn ambiguous product problems into sound technical strategies, and break complex initiatives into well-scoped, executable milestones.
Hands-on Development: Spend the majority of your time designing and writing production code. Set the standard for code quality, testing, and operational excellence through your own work and through rigorous, constructive design and code reviews.
Force Multiplication: Level up the engineers around you through design discussions, pairing, and review feedback. Identify and drive cross-cutting improvements — developer experience, reliability, performance — that make the whole team faster. Formal people management (performance, career development) remains with the Engineering Manager.
Architecture & Reliability: Drive decisions on scalability, reliability, and maintainability across microservices. Champion platform security and compliance with industry standards (e.g., HITRUST, SOC 2, HIPAA). Own production health for your systems: lead incident response and post-incident analysis, and drive durable fixes over patches.
Collaboration: Partner with product management, QA, and US-based engineering and business stakeholders to shape requirements into sound technical solutions. Maintain reasonable working-hours overlap with US time zones for key design and planning discussions. Write clear design documents and architectural decision records that others can build on.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
8+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in a SaaS or product-company environment, including a track record of leading the technical direction of a team or major system as the senior-most engineer.
Deep, hands-on expertise in microservices architecture and proven experience designing, implementing, and operating scalable distributed systems in production.
Strong proficiency in Python. Experience in Golang is a plus.
Strong experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization/orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with Agentic AI frameworks and building scalable systems for compliance is a strong plus.
Experience developing data crawlers or high-volume data ingestion pipelines is a plus.
Experience in the insurance or healthcare industry (US healthcare is a strong plus).
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and written/verbal communication skills.

Pay range and compensation package: Competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience.

Equal Opportunity Statement: LightSpun is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusivity. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences. Please email your resume to hiring@lightspun.com.
