Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Role Summary
We build enterprise SSD hardware that powers critical data center workloads, and we take pride in delivering high-quality AI-Enabled products to customers. Our team plays a key role in making sure every drive performs as expected before it ships. We work hands-on with cutting-edge hardware and use deep technical insight to uncover issues early and improve designs. If you enjoy solving complex problems and working across the full hardware stack, you’ll find meaningful impact here!
In this role, you will serve as a critical checkpoint between design and customer delivery. You will validate and characterize SSD hardware across electrical, protocol, and system levels, ensuring performance, reliability, and functionality. You will work across NAND, DRAM, PCIe, and board-level systems, using Linux-based validation environments to test, debug, and automate processes. Your work will directly influence final hardware quality and customer outcomes.
Responsibilities
Validate SSD hardware from bring-up through full electrical and protocol characterization
Characterize power, performance, NAND, DRAM, PCIe, and chip-to-chip interfaces
Identify hardware and component issues, drive root cause, and partner with design teams to implement fixes
Build and maintain Linux-based validation environments and debug system-level failures
Develop Python automation and data analysis tools to scale validation and improve repeatability
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
Proficiency in Linux administration, scripting, and debug of test systems
Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, analyzers, and power supplies
Experience validating or bringing up complex digital hardware systems
Python scripting for automation and data analysis
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with enterprise or data center SSDs
Validation experience across power, performance, NAND, DRAM, or PCIe
PCIe Gen4 or Gen5 validation and calibration experience
Experience debugging chip-to-chip protocols such as I2C, I3C, SMBus, or UART
Familiarity with CI frameworks and version control tools such as Jenkins and Git
What We're Looking For
The engineers who do well in this role tend to be self-directed — they come to debug sessions with hypotheses and next
steps rather than waiting for direction, and they follow a problem all the way through root cause and into the
corrected hardware instead of handing it off. They build the automation, write the runbook, and raise the reporting
standard on their own initiative, and they stay with the ambiguous, multi-layer failures that others walk away from,
often reproducing issues another bench couldn't. They document their work so the next person doesn't start from
scratch, manage several programs at once, and keep moving when one path is blocked.
