Description

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

In this role, you will work with a team of engineers responsible for improving and standardizing PCB test processes used on the shop floor, ensuring scalable deployment across contract manufacturing partners and Leo factory locations. You will drive initiatives to increase first-pass yield, reduce false failures, and eliminate operator-driven defects through root cause analysis of software, infrastructure, and process-related issues. You will work across the organization with software, hardware, and manufacturing and supply chain teams to identify process gaps, prioritize yield improvement efforts, and implement corrective actions, while providing regular updates to stakeholders. Working closely with CM site and factory representatives, you will provide actionable design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT) recommendations to improve overall line performance.

Key job responsibilities

Lead and conduct test process analyses across PCBA test workflows to identify failure modes, evaluate improvement alternatives, and optimize yield and throughput
Drive improvements for test systems, balancing performance, schedule, cost, risk, and scalability requirements
Collaborate with test software teams to investigate and resolve software and infrastructure driven test failures, process gaps, and execution inefficiencies, ensuring test software behavior aligns with manufacturing process requirements
Derive and synthesize requirements for test process efficiency, operational excellence, and operator usability across the manufacturing test infrastructure
Analyze first-pass yield data to identify trends, prioritize improvement efforts, and track corrective action effectiveness
Partner with CM site and factory representatives to review test processes, identify gaps, and drive standardization across manufacturing locations

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
Experience in analyzing data to drive decisions
Experience participating in or leading technical collaborations and creating alignment across diverse groups (e.g., hardware engineering, software engineering, program management)
3+ years of professional experience in manufacturing test, test process engineering, or automated test equipment (ATE)
Hands-on experience with PCBA provisioning and functional test processes
Experience with embedded system test rack configuration, integration, and optimization
Knowledge of hardware/software integration and validation processes

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems and Networking in a manufacturing test or embedded systems environment
Proven track record of implementing process improvements in electronics manufacturing environments, including application of methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or 8D corrective action processes
Familiarity with standards for PCBA manufacturing and test, such as IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies)
Familiarity with aerospace PCB and electronics standards, such as AS9100 (Aerospace Quality Management Systems)
Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System principles and experience working within an ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environment, including document control, corrective action, and continuous improvement processes
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python or Rust, with preference for experience in test automation
Experience with National Instruments (NI) TestStand test management software for developing, deploying, and maintaining automated test sequences in a manufacturing environment
Experience working with contract manufacturers (CMs), including process audits, yield reviews, and driving standardization across multiple production sites
Experience troubleshooting and debugging complex hardware/software interactions in a manufacturing test environment, including analysis of test logs, failure data, and infrastructure issues
Experience driving technical standardization across diverse test systems and manufacturing locations, including development of work instructions, test specifications, and acceptance criteria
Experience communicating with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives, and implement scalable process and tooling solutions
