What To Expect
Powertrain High Voltage Design & Integration team is responsible for cross functional optimization of Tesla vehicle powertrain hardware implementation. Team members are expected to utilize their physics fundamentals, hardware optimization thinking, simulation tools and common sense to facilitate multi-objective optimization and communicate performance expectations, component requirements to various teams. This role involves collaboration with system architecture, engineering, manufacturing, reliability, service, safety, finance, and compliance teams. Requires the ability to distill highly technical information and effectively communicate with other teams and management. Our team is small, committed, fast moving and we believe a diverse team of motivated individuals can accomplish almost anything. We are problem solvers, team players and game changers. If this sounds like you, Tesla just might be the place to make your mark!
What You'll Do
Identify and proposes optimal functionality distribution to each component to achieve system goals
Lead system level hardware implementation optimization, closely collaborating with hardware, firmware reliability, service, safety, and manufacturing engineers to navigate the tradeoffs of all options
Own development of component requirements, captures regulatory and internal performance, safety requirements. Cascades powertrain component requirements to subsystem specifications
Track analysis and decisions for evolving products (ie key architecture decisions, variants)
Develop and communicates system level strategies (ie EMC, NVH, fault current handling)
Work with component owners to develop and execute a system test validating expected behavior and debugging any problems that arise at the system level
Ensure accuracy of system models through detailed hardware characterization
Define electrical, mechanical, and communication interfaces for components
Own system level DFMEA
Generate block diagrams of integrated subsystem architectures in the vehicles
What You'll Bring
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Excellent first-principles physics understanding of battery technology, electrical, thermal, mechanical and FW/SW sub-systems of electric vehicles
Familiar with EV powertrain architecture and integration
Strong communication skills and preference for working in teams
Component specification definition (performance, functional, dimensional, manufacturing)
Ability to generate and interpret simulation results and integrate recommendations into product designs
Detail-oriented personality with effective documentation and reporting skills
Experience solving open-ended engineering problems
Benefits
