JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sr. Engineer – Reliability Engineering will be responsible for managing and executing product reliability testing and validation activities within the Reliability Lab. The role will ensure that products, components, and systems meet defined reliability, durability, performance, and quality requirements through structured testing, data analysis, failure investigation, and continuous improvement.
The role will work closely with Product Design, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to plan and execute reliability tests, identify failure modes, determine root causes, and recommend design or process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate, and execute reliability, durability, life-cycle, and qualification testing in the Reliability Lab.
Develop test plans, test procedures, test setups, and test schedules based on product and customer requirements.
Operate and ensure proper utilization of reliability laboratory equipment, test rigs, instrumentation, and data-acquisition systems.
Conduct reliability testing under thermal, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and other relevant stress conditions.
Monitor tests, capture test data, identify abnormalities, and ensure timely escalation of test failures.
Perform detailed analysis of test failures and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA), FMEA, 8D, and corrective actions.
Work with Design Engineering to investigate failures and recommend design improvements to enhance product reliability.
Ensure proper documentation of test results, observations, failures, corrective actions, and final conclusions.
Prepare test reports, reliability reports, qualification reports, and technical presentations for engineering and leadership teams.
Support new product development by providing reliability inputs during design verification and validation (DV/PV) activities.
Support qualification and validation of design changes, components, materials, and suppliers.
Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment and test infrastructure.
Maintain laboratory standards, safety requirements, testing protocols, and documentation.
Coordinate with external laboratories and testing agencies whenever specialized testing is required.
Analyze reliability data and identify trends, recurring failures, and opportunities for improvement.
Support development and improvement of reliability test methodologies and laboratory capabilities.
Mentor junior engineers/technicians on reliability testing, instrumentation, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
Key Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of Reliability Engineering and Reliability Testing.
Hands-on experience with reliability and environmental testing.
Knowledge of FMEA, FTA, RCA, 8D, Weibull analysis, life testing, and accelerated life testing.
Understanding of thermal, mechanical, electrical, and environmental stress testing.
Experience with data acquisition systems, sensors, instrumentation, and test equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot test setups and identify test-system vs. product failures.
Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
Knowledge of relevant industry/testing standards and engineering practices.
Good understanding of product design and manufacturing processes.
Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline.
Typically 5–8 years of relevant experience in Reliability Engineering, Product Validation, Testing, or Engineering Laboratory functions.
Hands-on experience working in a Reliability/Test/Validation Lab is preferred.
Experience in HVAC, thermal management, cooling systems, data-center equipment, power electronics, or similar engineered products will be an advantage.
