As the Sr. Electrical Design Engineer, you will design and analyze complex data-processing, communication, and electrical systems used in our radiation detection products. Working with a cross-functional team, you will conduct research, develop test methods, design custom printed circuit boards, and provide production and field support as needed. You will also provide technical guidance to junior electrical engineers and interns and help establish and share engineering best practices across the team.

Responsibilities

Work within a cross-functional engineering team environment to support the development and sustainment of radiation detection products.
Develop electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, interconnects, assembly drawings. Release designs into the company’s PLM systems via engineering Change order and established workflow.
Design and develop embedded digital and analog circuits for Radiation Detection Products. Circuits may include components such as field programmable gate arrays, embedded microcontrollers, high voltage circuitry for photomultiplier tubes, low noise front ends, and analog-to-digital converters.
Design data-processing and communication circuitries to facilitate communication between various subsystems and external equipment.
Develop, review, update, modify, and approve electrical design plans, circuits, system designs.
Develop Proof of Concept prototype circuits to support design verification.
Research emerging technologies, components, and design methods relevant to radiation detection products.
Troubleshoot electrical systems and printed circuit boards to the component level to identify root cause.
Collaborate with field service, manufacturing, and external customers to diagnose electrical issues, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and support implementation and verification through the continuous improvement process.
Mentor junior members of the team and assist in their development through design review, technical coaching, and sharing best practices and knowledge.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; M.S. is a plus.
8-10 years’ relevant design experience required.
Experience in the design of low noise analog circuitries such as sensor front ends, is a plus.
Practical experience in the Radiation Detection field is a plus.
Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities.
Excellent time management skills
Practical experience and proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout and other equivalent software packages.
Strong communication skills, including excellent writing and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to independently plan and complete assigned work, raise risks and dependencies promptly, and collaborate with others to meet project objectives.
Up to 15% domestic and international travel required. The employee must be able to acquire all necessary travel documents required for business travel.
Ability to collaborate with colleagues and customers in different time zones, including occasional early-morning or evening phone or web meetings when required by business needs.

Pay may range from $135,000 to $150,000 annually.

The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.

Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
