Splunk Engineer
$45-$55/hr DOE | 8-month contract (with potential to convert or extend) | 100% Remote EST working hours
Overview
We are seeking a Splunk Engineer to join a Security Services & Engineering team supporting a high-visibility cybersecurity environment where Splunk is a critical platform.
This role is focused on stabilizing and modernizing an inherited Splunk environment that requires cleanup and upgrades. The engineer will play a key role in driving platform improvements, supporting cloud migration efforts, and evaluating emerging AI capabilities within Splunk. The ideal candidate is hands-on, adaptable, and able to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Perform upgrades and ongoing maintenance of the Splunk environment
Support migration from on-prem to cloud-based Splunk infrastructure
Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and AWS
Handle deployments, release management, and system enhancements
Evaluate new Splunk features, including AI capabilities and toolkits
Conduct performance analysis and assess new technologies for fit
Partner with cybersecurity and engineering teams to ensure platform reliability
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support key security initiatives
Take ownership of deliverables and operate with minimal oversight
Requirements
Experience working with Splunk (administration, upgrades, environment management)
Strong AWS experience, including cloud infrastructure and DevOps workflows
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions
Solid understanding of DevOps practices in a cloud environment
Ability to evaluate new features and adapt to evolving technologies (including AI)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
Nice to Have:
Experience with Splunk cloud migrations
Exposure to AI/ML capabilities within Splunk or similar tools
Background in cybersecurity or security-focused environments
