About the Company
Scientific innovation underpins nearly every major advancement in modern industry from advanced materials and next-generation batteries to pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and sustainable food production. Yet the software infrastructure supporting industrial research and development remains fragmented, manual, and decades behind the systems used by modern technology companies. Our client is building the foundational software platform for industrial R&D. Their platform helps scientists, engineers, and researchers capture, structure, analyse, and operationalise experimental data across the entire product development lifecycle. By connecting laboratory instruments, research workflows, and organizational knowledge into a unified system, they enable research teams to move faster, make better decisions, and bring new products to market more efficiently. The opportunity is enormous. Every company that develops physical products relies on research and development, yet much of that work still operates on disconnected spreadsheets, legacy databases, and manual processes. This company is modernizing the infrastructure layer for scientific innovation and helping accelerate the pace of industrial discovery worldwide.

About the Role
You'll join the Implementations Engineering team, building production software that connects the company's platform to the real-world systems used inside research laboratories and industrial R&D organizations. Working closely with customers, product teams, and engineering leadership, you'll build integrations, automate data flows, migrate complex datasets, and develop tooling that enables researchers to work more efficiently. You'll own projects from discovery and design through deployment and long-term support while gaining exposure to a wide range of technical environments. This is a highly customer-facing engineering role where you'll write production code, solve complex data challenges, and directly influence customer success.
What You'll Do
Develop Python applications and tooling to ingest, validate, and structure research data.
Design and implement automated data pipelines that process and transform scientific datasets.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to identify patterns that can be incorporated into the core platform.
Contribute to internal tooling and shared infrastructure that improves implementation speed and reliability.
Build integrations between laboratory instruments, enterprise systems, and the company's platform.
Work directly with customer technical teams to understand requirements and deliver robust solutions.
Debug, maintain, and improve production integrations across a diverse customer base.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (required).
0–2 years of software engineering experience.
Strong Python programming skills and excellent computer science fundamentals.
Experience working with APIs, SQL databases, or data processing workflows.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Interest in scientific software, research, engineering, chemistry, biology, or related technical domains.
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Previous internship, research, startup, or high-ownership engineering experience is a plus.
Exposure to laboratory environments, scientific instrumentation, or research workflows is beneficial but not required.
