About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team at KBR. In this role, you will apply digital engineering principles through the development of software solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering workflows. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing full-stack applications, developing scripts and plugins for engineering and modeling tools, and supporting modern digital workflows across multiple programs. Working closely with senior engineers, systems engineers, and stakeholders, you will translate technical requirements into reliable, maintainable software solutions that support critical defense and aerospace projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to grow their skills in a collaborative environment while contributing to impactful national security initiatives. The role emphasizes innovation, teamwork, and continuous learning, providing a platform to develop expertise in cutting-edge digital engineering technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
Experience developing software using modern programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript
Familiarity with frontend development frameworks such as React
Understanding of backend development concepts, APIs, and distributed or networked systems
Experience with modern version control systems (e.g., Git)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to evolving project requirements

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and tools supporting digital engineering initiatives
Contribute to full-stack software development efforts, including backend services, APIs, and frontend interfaces
Develop and extend plugins, scripts, and integrations for engineering and modeling environments
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to translate requirements into software solutions
Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and backlog grooming
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices
Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing the performance of existing applications
Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
