Job title: Software Engineer — Forward Deploy
Job type: Permanent
Salary: $150,000-$200K + Equity
Role Location: US – 100% remote
About the role:
I'm partnered with a Series A fintech company on a confidential search for a Software Engineer who sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer success. This is a hands-on coding role, but it also requires someone who can walk into a customer conversation, understand a complex operational workflow, and translate it into an elegant technical solution.
The company is building a payments and financial automation platform for an industry still running on paper and manual processes. The product is live, the customers are large operators, and the team is small. What you build has a direct, visible impact on how their customers run their businesses
What this role actually is:
This is not a traditional product engineer role and it's not a solutions architect role - it's both. You'll own the full customer journey from pre-sales discovery through production deployment and ongoing iteration. You'll work directly with customers to understand their challenges, architect integrations between enterprise systems, and ship solutions that make complex operational workflows actually work. If you've ever been the person who bridges the gap between what a customer needs and what engineering can build, and you loved that, this is the role.
What they are looking for:
3–5 years of hands-on experience shipping production systems with a track record of driving customer outcomes end-to-end
Full-stack generalist comfortable across Ruby on Rails, Hotwire, React, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
Strong experience with system integrations, APIs, and building reliable data pipelines between enterprise systems
Comfortable owning ambiguity: you can gather requirements from vague business objectives and turn them into clear technical specs
Strong technical communicator: equally at ease explaining a data model to an engineer and a workflow problem to a non-technical customer
Early-stage company experience: you've worn multiple hats, worked without heavy PM direction, and know how to prioritize for impact
Signals that will stand out
Experience in hospitality, payments, marketplace, or property management environments
Background building integrations with accounting systems, ERPs, or financial data platforms
Experience in a customer-facing technical role: solutions engineering, technical account management, or implementation engineering
Comfort working directly with customers pre and post-sale
AI tooling in your daily workflow: Claude Code, Cursor, or similar
The stack: Ruby on Rails with Hotwire and light React on the frontend. TypeScript Node.js automations, PostgreSQL, AWS
