Who We Are

Sauron protects your family and home, bringing the innovations of autonomous robots and self-driving cars to residential security. Our team is led by veteran operators and engineers, alumni of Sonos, Paypal, Tesla, Apple, and Google. Sauron has raised an $27M seed round led by A* and Atomic with participation from other leading venture capital firms.

The Role

We're looking for a Software Engineer, Build Infrastructure and Test who thrives at the intersection of device software, infrastructure, and real-world deployment. You'll play a key role in making sure our cutting-edge AI systems can be seamlessly deployed to homes across the country - reliably, securely, and at scale.

Your work will span everything from building infrastructure on the edge to networking and observability on real devices in the field. If you've ever wanted to put advanced robotics and AI into the hands of everyday people, this is the place to do it.

What You’ll Do

Take ownership of the end-to-end deployment and testing lifecycle for our mission-critical device software.
Architect, maintain, and scale the tooling that empowers our software and ML engineers to build and test code that delivers high-performance, low-latency AI inference in the field.
Engineer resilient CI/CD pipelines to manage OTA updates with total confidence and comprehensive fleet-wide observability.
Drive operational excellence through advanced remote monitoring, alerting (Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry), and debugging of fleet health metrics like uptime and resource utilization.
Partner closely with Device Software and ML teams to eliminate friction and streamline the development experience.

What You Bring

3-5+ years of experience in Embedded Development, DevOps, or SRE—ideally shipping production ML systems within the robotics, autonomous vehicle, or consumer hardware space.
Deep technical mastery of embedded Linux, system packaging, and cross-compilation for diverse hardware platforms.
A collaborative mindset and a track record of translating complex product requirements into robust technical AI solutions.
Extensive experience managing large-scale edge fleets, including over-the-air (OTA) updates and blue-green deployment patterns.
A history of building internal developer tools and CLI applications that automate away complexity and amplify team productivity.
Startup DNA: the ability to identify pain points, communicate with stakeholders, and drive projects from initial RFC to full deployment.

Nice to Have

Experience architecting simulation pipelines, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments, and system-level testing frameworks.
Deep expertise across the stack for optimizing deployments to edge targets like NVIDIA Jetson or custom ARM SoCs.
Prior experience navigating the unique challenges of early-stage startups or fast-paced hardware manufacturing environments.

We Value

The Power of "We": “Align, then Accelerate”
We celebrate as a team and troubleshoot as a team.
The goal is the mission, not the credit.
High Challenge, Low Ego: "Respect the person, debate the idea."
Be ruthless with problems, but kind to people.
Raise the bar, lower the shield
Speak up: "Silence is a setback."
Your perspective is a requirement, not a suggestion.
Speak the hard truths early so we can fix them fast.
Integrity in Motion: "Own the outcome, not just the task."
Do what you say you’ll do.
If it breaks, fix it. If it works, make it better.
Humanity at the Core: "Relationships over transactions."
Earn trust through empathy and consistency.
Anticipate needs before they become requests.

The compensation range for this position is $200-240k base + equity + benefits.
