Overview
We are seeking a skilled Java Software Engineer to join a fast-paced, collaborative development team supporting enterprise retail applications and integrations. This role is ideal for a developer who enjoys hands-on coding, working independently within Agile sprints, and adapting to evolving business priorities in a dynamic environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and CI/CD practices, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical leads, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java-based applications and backend services
Build and support RESTful API integrations with internal and third-party systems
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
Collaborate with technical leads to implement assigned development work and technical requirements
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following engineering best practices
Support application enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements
Develop and execute unit and integration testing using TDD methodologies
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and deployment automation efforts
Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolution when needed
Work independently on sprint deliverables while maintaining strong communication with the broader team
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Java application development (minimum 3 years considered)
Strong experience with Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, SQL, and REST Services
Experience working with Oracle databases
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
Hands-on experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Ability to adapt quickly in an environment with shifting priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
Cloud platform experience, preferably Azure
Experience with Reactive Programming
Exposure to API integrations with external vendors or enterprise platforms
Familiarity with Log4j and application monitoring/logging frameworks
Work Environment
Hybrid schedule: On-site Tuesday–Thursday at headquarters
Remote Monday and Friday
Collaborative Agile team environment with moderate meeting cadence
Primarily focused on hands-on development work
Interview Process
One 45-minute panel interview with technical team members
Technical and behavioral Q&A
Live Java coding exercise via screen share
